Senator Ben Bruce Attacks Buhari For Promising To Help Ghana Fight Corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari who on Tuesday promised help Ghana tackle corruption at the 61st Independence celebration of Ghana, has been slammed by the senator representing Bayelsa East, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.

The president had told the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, “your Excellency can be assured that you have a good partner in me as I look forward to any form of collaboration between Nigeria and Ghana in tackling the menace of endemic corruption.”

In a swift reaction to the promise of the Nigerian president to Ghana on anti graft war, Senator Bruce said in a Twitter post that Buhari has not done enough in tackling corruption in his own country.

The lawmaker advised Buhari to, through his actions, teach other West African countries how to truly fight corruption, adding that what the Nigerian President has been doing back home is fighting opposition in the guise of anti corruption war.

He tweeted: “Rather than promise to help Ghana fight corruption, show by example that you are fighting corruption, and not opposition in Nigeria.”

“If corruption is increasing in your nation, you make yourself a laughing stock if you promise to fight it in another nation. Charity begins at home”, he said, adding that the president's anti-corruption campaign is yet to achieve any result three years after it began.

“The major challenge facing President Buhari’s anti corruption war is that for almost three years, it has been delivering activity instead of delivering results,” Bruce said, adding that President Buhari has been making noise instead of making news and engaging in propaganda instead of setting proper agenda.
