UN Court Orders Israel To Stop Military Invasion of Rafah

United Nations’ top court issued the order in a suit filed by South Africa.

Israel has been asked to halt military invasion of Gaza city, Rafa.

The call was made by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

CNN reports that the development further increases international pressure on Israel over its war against Hamas.

United Nations’ top court issued the order in a suit filed by South Africa.

South Africa had accused Israel of using forced evacuation orders in Rafah to “endanger rather than protect civilian life”.

Israel, which has rejected the allegations, is yet to officially react to the ICJ ruling.

Recall that ICJ rulings are final and binding, but the court doesn’t have a mechanism to enforce them.
