Hauwa Liman's Execution: ICRC Speaks On Killing Of Their Worker By Boko Haram Group

Hauwa Liman

As reports continue to make the rounds online that the 24-year-old medical aid worker, Hauwa Liman was executed by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) yesterday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has said that it cannot confirm the story.

ICRC stated this via their official Twitter page: "We are hearing devastating reports Hauwa has been executed.

"At this stage, we don't have confirmation this is true. We desperately hope not. We will provide an update when we have accurate information.

"This situation is heartbreaking, and our thoughts remain with her family."

The Red Cross was the first disseminator of the information in which a letter was drafted to plead with the government and the public to see that the life of Hauwa is spared.

The Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on the other hand, in a statement, stated that the government tried everything within its power to rescue the lady.
