Plane Carrying 50 People Crash-lands At Airport After Nose Gear Fails to Come Down

A Metro UK report shows that a passenger plane has crash landed at Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland.
The Flybe plane was forced to return to the airport after the pilot found he was unable to drop the nose of the aircraft.
After circling above for around two hours to burn fuel he made the decision to put the Bombardier Q-400 aircraft down at around 1.30pm.
But the landing was far from smooth, with flight no BE331 skidding across the runway when it touched down.
There were 52 passengers, including an infant, and four crew members on board the flight that was headed to Inverness.
Flybe confirmed one passenger had been taken to hospital with a minor hand injury but there were no further reports of injuries.
Flybe has sent a specialist team to Belfast to offer assistance and it has promised to do all it can to find out what went wrong.
A Flybe statement said: ‘Flybe can confirm that there has been an incident involving one of our Bombardier Q-400 aircraft, flight no BE331 which landed with no nose gear in place.
‘The aircraft departed from Belfast City at 1107 local time bound for Inverness. The incident occurred at Belfast International Airport at approximately 1330 local time.

‘There are 52 passengers on board and four crew members.

‘Our primary concern is for the welfare of the passengers and crew.

‘All statements relating to this incident will be posted immediately on the Flybe website.’
