Driver Attacked Deadly Armed Robbers by Ramming into Them with His Car - Photos+ video

A cash-in-transit crew drove their armoured vehicle into a group armed robbers after an attack in Krugersdorp. One of the robbers died after the ruckus, according to News24.

A video of the incident, which happened on October 2, was shared on Facebook by Intelligence Bureau SA. Speaking on the matter, G4S Cash Solutions' spokesperson Wendy Hardy told News24 that a crew of theirs was attacked by a group of five armed men.

"They were attacked while returning to the armoured vehicle, having completed a cash collection service at a customer in Krugersdorp."

Hardy said the driver of the G4S vehicle, as per standard operating procedure, tried to drive to a place of safety.

It is unclear whether the robbers got in the way, or were in fact targeted by the G4S van. One robber was allegedly killed after being hit by the cash vehicle, according to Hardy.

"He ran in front of the vehicle while pursuing, and shooting at the G4S crew."

"He [G4S employee] is now in a stable condition after being treated in hospital, and both crew members involved are being supported with trauma counselling."

The robbers fled the scene in a grey Audi Q7 with an undisclosed amount of money.

The incident is still under investigation.
