The respondent, 47, who is a transporter, said that he had stopped smoking weeds and drinking alcohol for some weeks.
Waidi also denied ever threatening to kill his wife, and said he injured her with a bottle by mistake.
The husband pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage as requested by Kudirat as he still loves her.

Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, while delivering his judgement said the petitioner had insisted that the marriage be brought to an end despite mediation by the court and family members.
“Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the husband still claims he loves his wife.
“The court pronounce the marriage between Kudirat Sodiq and Waidi Sodiq dissolved today, both parties henceforth cease to be husband and wife.
“Both are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation,” Omilola ruled.

“My husband is always threatening to kill me and suffocate me to death with a pillow.
“I am always afraid to sleep at home and because of the threat, I ran away from the house I built and relocated just to save my life.
“Waidi left scars on my body as he always bites me whenever we fight and he will not leave me until he sees blood coming out from the wound.
“Last May, he came to my shop, saying that he would kill me, he smashed a bottle of beer on the ground and wanted to stab me on the neck.
“I used my hand to dodge it and the bottle cut me on my right hand, blood was gushing out but my neighbours rushed me to the hospital.”
