Chris Gard and Connie Yates dramatically decided to withdraw their case to send Charlie to America for treatment.Giving an emotional statement to the High Court today, Ms Yates said:
"The last 12 months have been the best, worst and most life changing of our lives.
"This is the hardest thing we've ever had to do. Following most recent MRI scan we've decided to let our son go.
"He is not brain dead. A whole lot of time has been wasted. Treatment would have improved his quality of life. There is no evidence of irreversible brain damage. If we’d had access to raw data, we’re confident he would have had treatment.
"Our poor boy has just been left to lie there for months without treatment, left with this illness to deteriorate to the point of no return."(Daily Mirror)
